My Dearest Friend Marrianne,
Though I am a few years older than you I can only imagine what a test this would be.Your a very
strong girl.
Though this time is hard for you to bear,
and the people around you seem like they don't care,
Heavenly Father is near to watch from above.
He will help you and send his perfect love
To keep you safe and guide you aright
and watch over you both day and night.
He will always be there to see you through, take courage my friend We all love you!

Dearest and most precious Merrianne:

Heavenly Father chose YOU to walk this lonely and rough path because HE knows your strength and
devotion, and HE knows You will reflect the teachings of your loving parents and most importantly,
the training and example of our Holy Prophet.
We watched you cry and we cried. We know how hard it was for your Mother to let you go into the
hands of insesitive people who don't even know what they're doing. We know your Father's heart
aches for your release from prison, but know this, thousands upon thousands of your friends are
sending up constant prayers in your behalf. We love You.

Dear Merrianne,

I sure hope and pray that our Father in Heaven will strengthen you under your great load. It is a
GREAT BIG LOAD, so my prayers are GREAT BIG!

Dear sister, you are capable of whatever He wants you to go through, but you cannot do it without
Him. O stay strong! Stay Strong! Pray with All the energy of your heart, and CRY to heavenly
FATHER!

Show those people that you are a light, a candle light, you are like Joseph who was sold into Egypt.
Show them what a pure and lovely lady is like. Be an example of Zion to all who are around you!
You will be home again, you will be in Zion, but take the good lessons from whatever you are
required to do, and leave all the bad alone. Take these rotten lemons, and make up some yummy
lemonade! You are loved! SMILE ANYWAY!

A friend,

You don't know us, but we want you to know even strangers are praying for you. How brave you
have been even though grown up judges and social workers have behaved like shameful bullies. Our
mother has read us so many articles about this situation, and we think everyone ought to know. Don't
let them get to you. We have a different religion but we support you in your own faith. Be strong.
We hope you will be home with your mother and brothers very soon!

Dear Merrianne,

Thinking of you and praying for you many times throughout the day. So many people care about
you!

I don't know if you know the song "Trust His Heart" but it's been running through my mind about
your situation. Here's just a bit of it:

"All things work for our good
though sometimes we can’t see how they could.
Struggles that break our hearts in two
sometimes blind us to the truth.

God is too wise to be mistaken.
God is too good to be unkind.
So when you don’t understand,
when you don’t see His plan,
When you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart."

from "Trust His Heart" Written by: Babbie Mason and Eddie Carswell

With loving, prayerful thoughts for you and your family....

There are many troubles that will burst like bubbles,
There are many shadows that will disappear;
When you learn to meet them, with a smile to greet them,
For a smile is better than a frown or tear.

Tho' the world forsake you, joy will overtake you,
Hope will soon awake you, if you smile today;
Don't parade your sorrow, wait until tomorrow,
For your joy and hope will drive the clouds away.

When the clouds are raining, don't begin complaining,
What the earth is gaining should not make you sad;
Do not be a fretter, smiling is much better,
And a smile will help to make the whole world glad.

You can smile when you can't say a word,
You can smile when you cannot be heard;
You can smile when it's cloudy or fair,
You can smile anytime, anywhere.

Our prayers are with you, and we know that Heavenly Father will send angels to comfort and protect
you.

things and will reward to all accordingly.

I just thought I would tell you that we all think about you so much and look forward to the day
when we can see you again!

Be strong through it all... and remember that Heavenly Father is seeing what we are all made of.
If I could I would come stay there with you until you can get out because I know just a little of how

you feel! When I was at High Sky my sweet attorney was looking into making me have to stay in
state custody alone for a little longer. The thought made me sick and almost made me go out of my
mind.

I want you to know that we all love you and are missing you so very much!
Heaven bless you! Be determind in the right!

Thank you...

Merrianne,
I thought I would like to share a song with you that I wrote for my mother. I know you must feel
the same way about yours. Here it is:

Mother What I've Seen in You

Father sent me here to earth to live a clean life.
He knew that I would need a guide to plant my foot steps through the years, so he sent me to you.
Mother, what I’ve seen in you is what I yearn to be with Fathers help, and living His ways.
You have shown me through the years the way that I should be,
Turning me to my Father and living for the prophet and Zion.
Mother, how can I express my gratitude for you?
Father in the Heavens has blessed you with all that you could need to teach and train me.

Mother, what I’ve seen in you:
Loving, and giving,
Showing me daily the way I should live to be worthy of the blessings of our Savior.
Living dutiful and selfless through love,
You’ve shown me the way I must be to live in Zion on earth.

Father in Heaven,
Thank you for this mother!
Thank you for guiding her.

Oh, Mother what I’ve seen in you is what I yearn to be,
Living for the prophet,
Turning me to him,
Abiding the Celestial law,
Living as a Sarah.

Mother, what I’ve seen in you...

Merrianne, we realize what you are going through. We think of you often. Take courage. Don't give
up. We are doing all we can to help you get back to your mother. Prayer works. We look forward to
seeing you back in the arms of your mother. Stay encouraged. Smile! :)

Dearest Merrianne,

Another new day is dawning and you are one day closer to being returned home.

I see Al has mentioned Joseph in Egypt a couple times and that is a good comparison. Remember
that others (his brothers) meant selling him to Egypt for harm, but God meant it for good and it did
turn out for good for ALL His people.

Along with that was a little girl who was renamed Esther in her captivity -God placed her as queen
to a king 'for such a time as this.' Your people are in as dire straits as were the people of Israel...and
God had years before placed a young girl in a position of 'training' so she would be able to help when
the need arose.

Not everyone is trusted with such a hard and deep testing of their faith -God knows the gems that
will shine from the polishing -and He knows the purpose He has for them who endure. Remember
Revelation and the things that are promised to those who 'endure to the end.'

Keep your faith; focus on His love for you and His people

Remember especially that you are NEVER forgotten and ALWAYS loved

God bless you dear little sister in Christ.

I cried along with you. I have been there when I was just eight years old.
I was with all my brothers and sisters though.
I feel to encourage you with the fact that you have a good mother 'like I had' that is

obedient to the right people and because of this you will return in due time 'we did'.
We never ever doubted our mother's words, we
knew she was right.
Blessings to you,and I will continue to pray for you.

I would just like to let you know that we are thinking about you and praying for you. You are a
courageous young lady, and must have been blessed with a very strong spirit and testimony, for the
Lord does not ask us to do anything save He prepares the way. I know He is watching over you, and
He will answer our Prophet's prayers for you, and ours in connection. Hold on to your faith, you are
very loved, I know your dear Father and Mothers quite well, and I know they will be doing all they
can for you. I would like to meet you someday, and give you a big hug in person, but until then
consider yourself hugged from a mother who is yearning for your freedom. Remember you are very

Oh, how greatly you are missed! I think about you all the time and pray that you will be kept clean

I have come to know you quite well, and you are a really sweet girl. You sure seemed to put up
under all the pressure alot better than I did. I just don't know if I could handle being taken again, let
alone all by myself. Thank you for your marvelous example. Did you know the letter you wrote to
your mother was put on our website? I dare say it brought alot of tears.
Shaun always talks about you. He asks where you are and wonders if you are still sad.(He watched
the video of when you were taken.) He wants to see you so much.
We all miss you so very much and look forward to seeing you again--with your loving mother!

Dearest Merrianne,

For you the time goes so very slowly, but for those working to see you home once again, there are

not enough hours in the day to do the task.

Be strong in the knowledge that not one minute of the day goes by without so many people, from one
end of this world to the other, who are working to return you to the family fold.
Heavenly Father brought his 465 lost lambs back home, and he will once again return you back

home, this we know and pray.
Be strong, be brave and turn your tears into a smile knowing how much you are loved and blessed.

Dear Merrianne,

My heart goes out to you as I think of you alone in a foster home and unable to have any contact with
anyone that you love so much. It tears a healing sore wide open again. I was sent to a foster home
just 24 hours after the delivery of my little Johnathan, as I am sure you well remember. Oh, I just
know what you feel like--hungry, but only hungry for those you love! Alone, with altogether to much
time to ponder on the aweful reality of your situation! Yes, wonderful foster parents, but oh, the
heartache that just won't go away! Remember that this is a wonderful time to get close to your loving
Heavenly Father. He is a Friend that nobody, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY can take away from you.
He was my only comfort and strength during those hard days of recovery without any loved ones that
I needed so desperately. He will see you through. We know this for a fact. You are earning a great
reward that will make up for all the horrible experiences you are having now.

Thank you for your sweet example. I tried to get over to see you before you left, but did
not make it. I wanted to let you give the little boys a hug. But we just know that it won't be long.

WE send you our love. You are in our prayers. Remember that everyone is doing everything in their
power that they possibly can do to see you free again! May heaven bless you with the strength to

endure to the end.

With much heart felt love and yearning,

Dear little sister in Christ,

God bless you this day in a special way. May you know that you are loved, loved, loved by Him and
by your family.
You are in the thoughts of others and that we are holding you up DAILY, sometimes HOURLY,

before the throne of God, seeking His special blessing upon you, your mother and father, and your
brothers, sisters, and extended family.

May these trials turn you to the Word of God, our source of comfort in times of trail.
God gave me Psalm 18:30 at the time of my husband's death in a car accident -"As for God, His way
is perfect..."

Even in the hard times, God's way is perfect. You are the gold in His refiner's fire -I know He
already sees His face in you -and now others are seeing Him, too.
God bless you moment by moment.

Merrianne,

I am the mother of twins near your age--one daughter, one son. Like you and your mother, my
daughter and I are extremely close, so I understand very much how you miss Mother.

But be heartened and keep praying. Like "Grandpa Bill" and all the others have said
here--everything possible is being done to see to it you are returned home to your loving mother,
brothers and sisters and family.

Don't worry about your trouble making Aunt Carolyn. God is certanly going to have a word with
her and it won't be kind. I sure wouldn't want to be her, would you?? ;)

On the other hand, Heavenly Father is reaching down now and wrapping his loving arms around you
and holding you tight. He wipes away those tears that fall without warning when you feel so sad.
Know that He can fix any problem--no problem is too big for Him.

Trust in the our Heavenly Father and know He loves you. He will never leave you alone to face your
troubles, He will be with you every step of the way.

Think of what a joyous day it will be when you finally go home to your family!!! I am counting on
it and will be celebrating here so many hundreds of miles away with my children when that day
comes!

You are loved Merrianne. Isn't it amazing that even strangers you've never met like me and my
family love you and pray for your release every day??

Be strong little one...your homecoming will be soon!

Dear Merrianne,

Another day is ending and my thoughts have been on you and your time in captivity. I am praying
that soon this time will be just a bad memory and you will be reunited with those who love you and
miss you so dearly.

May God continue to be your source of strength, encouragement, and comfort. I am praying that
God will put people with love in their hearts in positions of authority and that evil will be removed
from the system that has placed you in this position.

Continue to be strong in your love of God and love of your parents and family. God's love never
falters, and neither does your family's.

There are so many Bible verses that speak of God's watchcare over His children and His people. I
hope they are at least allowing you to have a Bible so that you can read again how much God loves
you. Blueletterbible.org is a good online source.

Here's a couple favorite verses of mine:

Isaiah 26:3-4 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts
in You. Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

Zephaniah 3:17 -The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over
you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

WE rejoice over what a beautiful young woman you are and we continue to pray daily for your
deliverance.

God bless you and give you peace.

Merrianne;

I have a daughter your age and oh what I would give to have her married right. There is still a

lot of immorality going on among the young people in Short Creek. And it is quite disturbing to me.
You are like Joseph sold into Egypt. That wicked woman could not even get him to look at her. I
know and believe that you have had that same kind of training and you are a grand example of virtue
and purity. I know cause I know your Father very well. I realize that you already understand way
more than people even writhing you realize. You are a shining light and the young people are
watching you. I know that you will always be a grand example for them. What more could this old
guy say. I went to the army when I was young and believe me it was a moral test to the max. Uncle
Roy said, go and serve your country but don't partake of the sins of the world. I will always
remember those words. Clean every whit is what he always said. You and I know that it can be
done.

With respect and Honor for Who you are. XGI

Merrianne,

Stay strong. Listen to the still small voice inside you telling you what to do. Even though you are
away from your family and loved ones, you still have God and your faith. Cling to that, let the
burning ember of faith grow, and all will be well.

It seems the entire world by now knows that a girl was put back into foster care, and that was you.
I'm sure you will be treated well for that. Hang on. There's a light at the end of the tunnel. Stay close
to God, read your Bible, and anything that makes you feel more at home. God Bless and keep you

Dearest Merrianne;

Someday everything will make perfect sense, until then, laugh at all the confusion, smile through the

Dear Merrianne,

Another day dawning...another day to rejoice and be glad in -in spite of circumstances that may
cause the tears to flow and our hearts to ache. It is a day that God has meant for praising Him in
spite of our circumstances, because regardless of what the day holds, God is ALWAYS, ALWAYS
good!

It is easy to sing in the daylight hours, but many of David's Psalms that bring us comfort were written
during the blackest hours of his life -written out of a feeling of abandonment by his friends, his
families, and once, even his God. But God never abandoned him, nor will He abandon You. For
whatever reason, God has chosen you to be a beacon to strangers in a 'strange land.'

May you SHINE as Esther did. (Esther means "Star")

Here's a little quote for you: "The abundant life does not come to those who have had a lot of
obstacles removed from their path by others. It develops from within and is rooted in strong mental
and moral fiber." --William Mather Lewis

I wish we could hear from you to know that you are 'okay.' I wish so many things were different for
you.

With loving, prayerful thoughts,

Chai

Dear Merrianne,

I wish I knew why you were being tested so sharply, but I'm just not smart enough to have the
answers.

I once had a little boy who was put in the same position you are in now and on a field trip, he snuck
away and was lost in a cave for 3 days in pitch blackness.

Like your Mother and your Father, I was forbidden to look for him and take him home, he was in
foster care until I could prove that I was a good caretaker to him.

No one knew where he had gone, and not until one of his teacher's remembered that he had talked
to a friend of his about the cave, did a search team go out and look for him in that cave.

He was saved, and he did come back to my home, and I asked him if he was afraid in the black cave.
"No, I thought about you and I talked to Heavenly Father and I knew I would come back to you
again." He told me with a smile on his face.

You WILL be back home where you belong and you WILL be with your Mother and your Father.
Keep your smile, Heavenly Father is watching over you as He watched over all the children of the
Ranch, and you will be happy once again.

You are deeply loved,

"Grandpa" Bill

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but I know your father (a little), and 2 of your sisters
were my teachers when I went to Alta Academy, and if you're anything like them (and I have reasons
to believe you are in some ways at least), then maybe I do know you after all even if it's not
personally. You see, I used to live at the Crick, but because I refused to live the way we've been
taught, I am now somewhere else. I hope though, that I can be worthy to go somewhere besides
where I now am, and perhaps meet you someday, for you are a grand example to me and I thank you
for it. I just want to say keep encouraged, Heavenly Father will see you and all of us through if we
will trust in Him. He will not give us more than we can bear, but only that which will help purify

us and help us appreciate more His goodness. Keep encouraged, girl, and know we are all praying

Dear Merrianne,

Mere words can not frame the prayers my soul pours out for you. What a grand mission you have
been called and chosen to! From Isaiah 48:10 "I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction."

Like Job, you have been given a test surpassing ordinary tests. Like Job, you have been trained in
the ways of Heavenly Father. Like Job, you will be blessed greatly for faithfulness to the end. God
keeps his promises to His obedient children. He speaks to us in Isaiah 49:25: "But thus saith the
Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be
delivered; for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children."

Teens everywhere are enjoined to stand for something, anything...you already do. Stand strong.
What you are, no one can take from you. No one can lessen or sever your ties to our Eternal Father.
Others from afar will come to recognize that although housed in mortal clay of just fourteen years
earthly experience, your spirit immortal is pure, sweet, strong, and mature. Turn to Heavenly Father,
our Best Friend.

My oldest daughter is about two years younger than you and is such a support and delight. I know
that you are cherished as much in your family and pray your restoration to your parents will be very
soon.

God Speed The Right!

Dearest Merrianne,

I have been reading of the continued injustice against you and it causes such sadness. Yet, I am
reminded of the story of Joseph who was sold into slavery -how his brothers meant it for evil, but
God USED it for GOOD.

I am also reminded of Daniel and his friends who were taken as captive to Babylon -how they must
have wept and longed for their families because they were also young teens, forced away from their
families -chosen, as it were, to suffer for their God.

Even with the governments against them -Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego -they
could not destroy them. Yes, they tried to hurt them -but lions' mouths were closed, and the fiery
furnace, rather than consuming them, revealed to the rest of the world -the fourth figure -The Savior
walking with them in the midst of the flames.

HOLD FAST to that which you believe. The world will try to strip it from you. The world LIES
(as you well know!) and wants to convert you to its values and morals. Keep pure, Merrianne -don't
listen to their lies. Remember who you are and Trust in the One who walks with you in the flames,
and who shuts the lions' mouths.

God bless you and keep you from all harm. May He put a shield around you.

With loving thoughts and prayers,
Chai

Dear Merrianne,
You and I don't know each other, but I have been following this whole "story" and wanted to say
hello to you.
I'm pretty old, so I have had the opportunity to learn many lessons in this life. One that I learned later
than I would have liked, is to look for the "silver lining" in everything.
Perhaps the silver lining for you in all of this is to be able to show outsiders that all the stories about
your church and it's people are so wrong. Let them see what a wonderful, kind, softhearted person
you are. And let them know that the reason you are such a wonderful young woman is the people
who raised you and love you, gave you the tools to be this way.
And another silver lining is the opportunity for you to make some new friends. Everyone in the
outside world isn't bad. And because you are smart and have been given good tools for making sound
judgments, you will be able to tell who good people are. And adding friends to your life is always
good.
I love meeting new people and having new experiences and every once in awhile, one of the people
I meet turn out to be lifelong friends. Because I am old, I now feel so blessed to have had the
opportunity to add some wonderful people into my life, through all sorts of ways of meeting them.
Make the best of every situation. Always look for the silver lining. Stay strong and kind and that will
always shine around you.
You are in our prayers and good wishes as is your family.
I hope you have some wonderful joy each and every day of your life!
Sincerely,
Regina

Howdy! I sure have been missin' you! I pray for you every day. I surely do look up to you

Autty talkes about you all the time and tonight at the blessing she said about 3 times in her

Do you remember that beautiful picture you sent to me the night you were taken away? I put it for
my front screen on my phone. Autty saw it and started hugging it. Then she just looked at it and
wouldn't give it back. So...remember dear friend that we love you all.

Did you get that letter that I wrote to you a week or so ago? I sent it with your mother at a visit.
I wanted to hop in her pocket and come see you. Because I couldn't I just sent my love and a great
big hug.

Every day I think about you and wish I could do something for you. Please reply when you have
time and tell me what i can do for you. I remember when I saw you just after we were returned home,
that hug you gave me is still in my heart... but I promise that when I see you again it will be even
bigger!

Stay encouraged and I pray that our Loving Father will keep you clean and pure, in the hollow of
His hand until you are home again.
Heaven Bless you and in Heavenly Father's time and way may you be delivered, and we know it
will be soon!

"Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed,

I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,

When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not thee o’erflow,
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply.

Hey Merrianne,

I know that the days are not any better now than when you were first taken from your mother, and
I know that they will never be right until you are home again. I just want to say, I think you are a
great example for the right, for all the world wants you to deny your heritage and your religion, but
we know better than they do! Yet a good cry is good for you too, just don't let the blues keep you
down, serve God by serving all you can!

A song I learned:

"You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
O Father give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Because I've never been more homesick than now"

I look forward to the time when we can see your bright smiles again. Heaven Bless you. I will
always love you for who you are. Good night!

The police came in armed to the utmost,
Prepared to quash all threats from those at peace.
No one could say they could not take that post,
They wanted the FLDS to cease.
Good Angie Voss came to save the children,
By destroying the home in which they lived.
She came in behind rifle toting men,
Found love and peace, became very livid.
The pied piper took the children to camp,
With Mothers at the Fort Concho prison.
The shade of hate shattered the brightest lamp

And children were scattered by Texas Sun.
They struggled onward with the heavy strain
Placed on their weary souls by Texas bain.

Dear Merrianne,

My prayer is that you are well and are feeling the strength and comfort sent from your Heavenly
Father, your friends and family, and all of us that you don't even know who are still praying for you.

I hope you have things to do to keep your mind busy when you feel lonely and I hope you are being
treated with respect and kindness.

Here is another hymn that helps me when adversity strikes.

"Lean on my ample arm,
O thou depressed!
And I will bid the storm
Cease in thy breast.
Whate’er thy lot may be
On life’s complaining sea,
If thou wilt come to me,
Thou shalt have rest."

I'll continue to pray that you will soon be free and back with those you love.

God be with you.

Hello Merrianne!

There are some of us that have worked daily doing what we know how to, though limited, to prevent
what has gone on in your case. Hoping it will never happen to others or our own families.
You can ask Sam and others about the efforts we've made. The efforts seem like so little when

compared to the battle you stand up against.

Always remember they can't control your thoughts. Keep those thoughts centered on happiness all
the time.
Stay strong, we're all watching those that took you. We will never take our eyes off of them.

Dear Merrianne,

I want you to know that you are still in my thoughts and prayers every day.

I read something yesterday that I believe and I wanted to share it with you in the hopes that you will
feel comforted and encouraged by it.

"Remember the sublime words of the Savior to the Prophet Joseph Smith when he suffered with his
companions in the smothering darkness of Liberty Jail: 'My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine
adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God
shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.'

With that eternal perspective, Joseph took comfort from these words, and so can we."

I also was thinking about Alma and his people who were forbidden to pray by their captors. They
didn't let that stop them from praying, but continued to pray in their hearts. Their silent prayers were
still heard and I know yours will be too.

God be with you, Merrianne. I pray you will be back with those you love very soon.

Best,
Kathy

People from Canada, Mexico, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and from every State in the Union

Prophets will be fulfilled and what the world does or says isn't going to hinder the Lord in His great

a good job of it but with Heavenly Fathers help we will stay true to Priesthood and to God and be

My Dear Merrianne,

I read recently a bit of history written by Grandmother Margaret Jessop concerning her experiences
in the 1953 Raid on Short Creek, and I couldn't help thinking of your present situation in connection
with it. What a great burden our very dear mothers, fathers, and grandparents endured for the sake

A great portion of that burden now rests upon you and me and all those who have chosen to follow

Dear Merrianne.
I hope you are doing fine. I just wanted to say hello again, and tell you I have been praying for you.
I know there is justice and I know you will be back with your loved ones too..
I will also tell you something different. I have 3 kids. Yona is 9 years old, she is a girl, Josh is 5 years
old, he is a boy, and Dafna is 2 and a half years old and she is a girl. They go to the hebrew school
here in Monterrey. They had this most beautiful activity at school, you see, we celebrate hanukkah,
and its like our december party!! So we light one candle every night for 8 nights.... so well, my kids
had to do a very special deed for one kid they "adopted" for the holidays at school. and each day they
took different things, they took a new toy, a used one too, a book to read, colors, play dough, a book
to paint, a special note, cookies, and a juice!! and they had to do this one thing per day. And then the
final day was yesterday. They came home so happy, the kids went to their school, they sang and
celebrated together. They where so happy, they said they loved to give and give.... And I love to see
that smile on their face when they do good to others. Life is beautiful............
I will tell you more tomorrow! ;-)

Hello, Dear Merriannie,

As I am writing this little note, I am remembering your twinkly blue eyes and your sweet innocent
face and your refreshing red hair! I smile with the faith and expectation that you are doing well and
holding strong. Tests can seem long and severe, can't they? But after the storm, the sun comes out
again, and the air is cleaner and purer because of the rain. When I have had excruciating times, I
have thought of what Father Merril has often said, "Did you ever think that getting depressed and
discouraged would solve the problem? No! Just get up off your duff and go get busy!" That's what
I expect you are doing, and may I do the same.

Just thinking of Father's twinkly eyes and ready wit and his unbeatable, unconquerable Spirit helps

me to face my challenges and just keep on going for the Gold! I thank Heavenly Father for holding
you in the hollow of His hand and providing protection for you during this amazing experience. I
thank Him for your example of sweet endurance and submission to His will, just as our Prophet is
doing. We both know there is a wonderful day coming, not far off, when the Lord will come out of
His hiding place, and all wrongs will be made right.

You know what they say, "Good things cometh to those who waiteth, as long as those who waiteth
worketh like @#%$ while they wait." Happy working!!

With love and blessings,
Your sister, Maggie

Precious Merrianne,
You have come such a long way and the end is in sight. Maybe one day you can write a journal just
for yourself. Writing has always be an outlet for me and whether anyone reads it or not is
unimportant.
I am in TX as well. During this cold weather I tend to hibernate as much as possible.
Many things are changing in the outside world and I hope for something better. there are many things
we could learn from one another. I have no desire to return to the place where everything went
wrong. Let's pray for better times ahead.
Blessings,

Dear Merrianne,
We were once neighbors! Our family thinks and prays often for your release from those who have
you in captivity. We pray that Heavenly Father will soften the hearts of those who have you in their
care, and that we can exert the faith through our Prophet to draw forth both you and him from
captivity. I know it will happen! The darkest hour is right before the dawn. The Lord sees the big
picture, and we are mostly privileged to see just a sliver, as though looking through the gaps in a
picket fence. Thank Heavenly Father for a Prophet to show us the way back into His presence. With
love and high regard to you and your loving family. Dennis Darger Family

Hello Merrianne!!!
Today is a beautiful day, there is snow all over the ground here in Short Creek. I look at it falling

from the sky so white and clean.
We all have so many blessings to live for, for we live in a day of miracles.

Keep going onward and upward. We love you and continue to pray for your deliverance. God Bless

Dear Merrianne,

Although I do not know you, your plight has touched my heart, and I wanted to let you know that
you have the good wishes and prayers of many different people all around the world.

I have been following your story, and I have seen your mother, doing her best to help you, battling
through her own tears to try to do what needs to be done to help you. I am a mother myself, and I
know that all mothers love their children. Your mothers love and devotion for you, however, shines
out of her eyes and heart. Even through a television or computer screen thousands of miles away I
can see what a special bond you share with her. You may not feel very lucky right now, but you are
so lucky to have a family who are so devoted to you.

Please know that there are thousands of people around the world who are appalled at what is being
done to you. The people doing this to you are the minority -anyone who looks can see that you and
your family are good people.

I think of you and pray for you -and hold my daughter just a little bit tighter when I kiss her
goodnight.

I hope your ordeal is soon over and you are back where you belong, with your family, at the
threshold of your adult life with all things possible spread out before you, your whole life to be lived
in the way YOU choose, not in the way a court or social worker tells you is the approved way.

I know when you are a teenager it is harder to see the big picture -that the next few weeks can seem
like the rest of your life. I am only 27 myself, it wasn't that long ago. But please know that soon you
will be able to look back at this as only a tiny fraction of your life.

I sincerely hope that this will count as all your trials in this life and you move past it to have a calm
life, full of peace and love and happiness.

Stay strong. The world cares, your country cares, the community cares, your church cares, your
family cares, and most of all, your mother cares and is devoted to helping you.

I hope a letter from a stranger can help, or at the very least divert you.

Dear Merrianne,

It's cold where I am today and as I tend the home fire more closely I think of you out in another kind
of cold. Keep your fire burning brightly dear sister! Angels are taking notes for the records to
present to our Maker, who is of course the final judge in all matters of life. I hope one day to have
the chance to see you in person, still glowing with the Light of Christ, as I know you are well trained
in shining brightly. I only wish I was doing as well as you are in this. On these cold nights I don't
go to sleep til very late because it's too hard to keep my little spot on earth sufficiently warm the
night through. That's when I think of you the most. I wrote this thinking of you:

Oh, if I could slip a shoulder 'neath the massive load you bear,
If I could ease the sharpness of the longing you endure....
I know I can't in person, but to offer up a prayer:
The Lord above walks with you, His love and peace is sure.

I contemplate the battles fought eternally though time
In hopes that such as you would yet be free
In a freedom of your choosing, one to fit your paradigm;
For nothing less than this could one consider liberty!

So they've fitted you with shackles and deprived you of your friends;
No chain has been invented to enclose the human heart!
The "free" world soon must recognize what your crisis now portends:
It seems that soon our freedoms will be liberty in part!

Keep Your Light Shining Bright!

Love to you and those you love.

You are in the position of being a martyr to your religion. I am not Mormon nor paticurly religious,

Merrianne:

I am deeply saddened by the religious persecution that has resulted in your incarceration. However,
I find the courage shown by you and your people to be quite inspiring.

There are many in the academic community that support the struggles of you and your people for
freedom from persecution. There are many examples of intellectuals who, like yourself, have been
forcibly removed from family for speaking their beliefs, and have also sacrificed their lives.

Thousands of scholars perished in Communist China during the "Cultural Revolution," and I have
been privileged to know and work with some of their children who survived. Similarly, Nazi
Germany not onlyforced the great physicist Einstein to flee, but evicted or killed many other eminent
scientists and professors. Just as you have become a symbol of the persecution against your religion,
you have also become a symbol of the larger story of persecuted humanity.

There are many of is in the academic community that decry governmental attempts to stifle speech,
belief, and inquiry. Though we intellectuals have a culture very different from yours, we offer our
support and encouragement.

Merianne, your people are being victimized by an American version of the terror which gripped Nazi
Germany, Communist China and even the USA which interned all Japanese Americans as all the
FLDS children were interned in camps and deprived of freedom. Whatever the state has accused
cannot compare to the obvious misery that you and your family is now suffering when CPS is
incapable of enforcing protecting children from neglect and abuse when they are caring for children
like yourself.

I hope your parents and friends will allow you to read book like the Diary of Anne Frank, Elie
Wiesel's Night, his personal account of the Holocaust as seen through the eyes of a 15-year-old boy,
and Farewell to Manzanar: A True Story of Japanese American Experience During and After the
World War II Internment. Another good story is China Cry which is also a video. Here is a review
for a movie which is certainly approved by most christians: Nora Lamm, whose childhood was rent

asunder when the Japanese invaded Shanghai at the outset of World War II. Recalling these horrific
times, Nora remembers the cloistered pre-invasion existence she enjoyed thanks to the prominence
of her physician father The deprivations she experienced at the hands of the invaders are
compounded when postwar China is taken over by the Communists. In the early 1960s, Nora escapes
to Hong Kong, where she works tirelessly on behalf of basic human rights (and Christ) for those still
trapped on the Mainland.

I hope that you, or girls like you will write of your terrible experience so that future generations will
learn and remember what happens when people like Gov Perry believe that

"Any action taken to protect children
is never misguided," Krista Piferrer, Perry's deputy press
secretary.

That is truly a chilling statement, right out of 1984 and Brave New World, also books that you
should read or ask about.

Hello Merrianne!
I am an LDS mother of 8 children. I coldn't imagine what any of my children would have to go
through if they were taken away from us. You must be terrified and lonley. If I could reach out and
give you a mothers comfort and tender embrace I would. Keep sweet my dear child and be of good
cheer. The Holy Spirit is with you. He is our comforter in times such as these. In D & C section 121
Joseph Smith is praying to the Lord while he was a prisoner in Liberty jail. He and several
companions had been imprisoned for several months without relief from executive officers or
judiciaries. As I read this section I get the feeling that at times Joseph Smith must have felt that
Heavenly Father wasn't hearing his prayers. Merrianne, in my life I too have felt this way many
times. I have cancer right now and have thought why doesn't the Lord just answer my prayers and
take it away right now because I have 8 kids to raise. But I understand that Heavenly Father will
answer our prayers in His time and the way He sees fit. He does hear every one of your prayers. You
can be sure of that. My Bishop had me read D & C section 121. It is very small, but very powerfull.
In part it reads: "Oh God, where art thou? And where is the pavillion that covereth thy hiding place?
How long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thine pure eye, behold from the eternal
heavens the wrongs on thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their crys?
Yea, Oh Lord, how long shall they suffer these wrongs and unlawful oppressions, before thine heart
shall be softened toward them, and thy bowels be moved with compassion toward them? O lord God
Almighty, maker of heaven, earth, and seas, and of all things that in them are, and who controllest
and subjectest the devil, and the dark and benighted dominion of Sheol-stretch forth thy hand; let
thine eye pierce; let thy pavillion be taken up; let thy hiding place no longer be covered; let thine ear
be inclined; let thine heart be softened, and thy bowels moved with compassion toward us. Let thine
anger be kindled against our enemies; and, in the fury of thine heart, with thy sword avenge us of our
wrongs. Remember thy suffering saints, O our God; and thy servants will rejoice in thy name
forever." I love that passage. And, when you continue to read in 121 God answeres Joseph Smith
and this is some of what God tells him: "My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine
afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on
high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes. Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again
with warm hearts and friendly hands." Later on in the same section you can read God also tells
Joseph Smith: "Cursed are all those that shall lift up the heel against mine anointed, saith the Lord,
and cry they have sinned when they have not sinned before me, saith the Lord, but have done that
which was meet in mine eyes, and which I commanded them. But those who cry transgression do
it because they are the servants of sin, and are the children of disobedience themselves." Later also
you can read God say: "It had been better for them that a millstone had been hanged about their
necks, and drowned in the depth of the sea. Wo unto all those that discomfort my people, and drive,

and murder, and testify against them, saith the Lord of Hosts; a generation of vipers shall not escape
the damnation of hell. Behold, mine eyes see and know all their works, and I have in reserve a swift
judgment in the season thereof, for them all; for there is a time appointed for every man, according
as his works shall be." So Merrianne, take comfort in this passage. Know that those who are doing
these things to you and your family, God's wrath is coming against them. They will be dealt with in
Gods way and His time. For now, he hears you my dear child. He has sent the Holy Spirit to be your
comforter. My prayers are with you and your family. God bless you.

Good afternoon Merrianne!
I know I have written you before, but I just fell as thought I should keep writing to you. I want to
send you my love and encouragement. I just two of my children up from school and I was thinking
about you. I was thinking that you may have been home schooled when you were living with your
family. Or perhaps attending a school within the FLDS community. What a different world it must
be for you to attend a public school. I have home-schooled my kids in the past. But since I have been
fighting cancer I have not been able to. I don't care for the public schools. They teach our children
things that I don't think is right. Other children expose my children to mannerisms that are not in
harmony with the teachings of our Father in heaven. The children in public school can also be cruel
at times. My children must dress modestly. They sometimes get riciculed by other students. It is so
hard being young these days. Children have so many things they are faced with. When I was young
it wasn't this bad. Well, I should get to clothes that need folding. I will be fixing dinner soon and that
needs to be done. I am praying for your return to your family. I am also praying for your family. I
will write you again. May God bless and comfort you.

Merrianne,

We're praying for you and hope all is well with you this beautiful day. Here's a comforting thought
from the Bible for you today. James 3:11 "Behold we count them happy which endure. Ye have
heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of
tender mercy."

Truth will yet prevail, and time is truly a friend to the innocent (even if it seems not so friendly at
the present). It is said that the will of God will not lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you.
We extend our faith and prayer that His grace will be with you throughout your separation from all
you hold dear.

I read Psalm 102 thinking of you and all of our other political prisoners for religion's sake in the last
five to two hundred five years that have been jailed here in the land of the free and the home of the
brave... I never really thought that the bravest would necessarily be incarcerated....

Though smitten, and as a sparrow alone on a house top, you are a shining light of the true peace that
comes from our Lord and Leader Jesus Christ. I noticed also when reading Psalm 102 that
immediately following that prayer of affliction were several rejoicing Psalms of blessing and
thanksgiving. I presume you shall have several you could write for yourself when that day comes that
the Giver, Creator, and Great Ruler intervenes in your behalf! We know it will take His intervention,
as indeed it did in 1776 for this newly-declared-independent-of-unrighteous-dominion republic for
which we stand. God bless you, your friends and family on whom this experience was imposed, and
especially our Prophet and Friend.

Great Is The Lord, Tis Good To Praise.

You are not forgotten.

Hi Merrianne,
I have been trying all day to create a blogspace so that everone I know can see pictures of my family,
and learn about who we are. I am not very computer savey so it is taking me a very long time. Maybe
one day you can find me on the blogspace. I will update you as I learn more and create a desireable
space to look at. My family continues to pray for you several times a day. Thank you for praying for
me as well. I know that Heavenly Father has a purpose for me. So I leave my health in His hands.
I think of you quite often throughout my day. I wonder who you are and why you are not with your

family. My heart goes out to you and those that love you. God is with you. I know that!

Good Morning Merrianne:

My family and I have been praying for your release daily. I think about you through-out my daily
activities. We hope that you are able to contact your family members by now. I read that they were
keeping you from talking to them. As a mother myself I just couldn't stand being kept away from my
daughter let alone not able to even hear her sweet voice and to tell her myself how much I love and
miss her. My daughter Crystal who is 15 years old told me that she would go crazy if she coudn't talk
to me. We pray several times each day that you will be returned home right away. We are praying
for your peace and comfort as well as for your parents and other family members. Heavenly Father
is with you Merrianne. I know that you know this. He has not forsaken you. In His time you will
return to your family. Know this, YOU WILL RETURN. They can not keep you hostage forever.
God's wrath is coming to them. He will smite those that persecute His chosen ones. That is His
promise. Keep strong. Know you are loved. Not only by your family but by so many others that keep
a special place for you and your family in their hearts.
God bless you.

Dear sweet Merrianne,

When I feel a little blue,
I'll just send a smile to you;
I'm astonished when it's sent,
That the smiling isn't spent!

It seems in fact to grow,
And that little smile I sow
Yields up fields and fields of friends
For that smile never ends.
What a harvest we all share
When we lift a load of care.
When we take the time to smile
It makes life for all worth while.

Dearest Merrianne,
How often I think of you through each day. Your quiet, dimpled smile shines bright with every
memory. Your sweet cheerfulness, so contagious, lingers near. I know you will come home. When
it happens, we all know is in the Lord's time, but until then I also know that, as WSJ has made a
heaven out of a prison cell, so also will you make a heaven where ever you go, for you carry it with
you in your heart, and no one on earth can take it away from you. God bless you dear sister until we
meet again, for we shall meet again. I love you.~Lu

so lonely for your family. I know that you must feel Heavenly Fathers presence every day. You are

Reaching toward Heaven
Yearning for the safety and well-being
Of our captives in the fight for right:
Oh, Dear Lord,
Give them strength, give us hope,
Make us one,

Through Your strength, and courage from above.

These dear ones held only for their stand with Thee,
We pray Thou wilt hold them in the hollow of Thy hand, in peace, safe enfolded.

Hi Merrianne!
My family and I have been praying for you several times every day. We pray for your quick return
as well as for Heavenly Father to comfort you and help you to be at peace. I know it must be very
difficult for you to be away from those that love you. There are so many who don't even know you
Merrianne yet I am sure like myself, have come to love you through their prayers for you. Every day
I am able to get up with my children, make their meals, do their laundry, play with them, hug them
and kiss them, and teach them many things about life. I can't imagine what your family is going

through having you taken away and not able to see you or speak to you. I think about your poor dear
Mother and what it must be like for her. I am so grateful for being a mother. As I go about my days,
I often think of you and what you are having to endure because your rights as well as the rights of
your family have been taken away from you. Merrianne, as you have so sadly have come to learn,
laws are not always fair. Sometimes laws are not always there to protect us. And sometimes the law
does the opposite of what it should do. When there are corrupt governments or agencies out there
acting like cowards, with nothing better to do than to tear apart loving families such as yours, and
picking on Gods children such as yourself, then these horrible things happen. One day, the ones who
have taken you away and held you captive must face God. And then they will get what they deserve.
We will continue to pray for you. Stay strong dear Merrianne. You are special to our Father in
Heaven. And you have become special to me as well. I send you my love.

A year ago this week I cried myself to sleep for many, many nights over the knowledge that almost
500 people had been so forcefully "rescued" from the heaven on earth they had so patiently and
carefully built. I would hold my 13-month-old knowing that she was the same age as others who did
not have their mothers close by to care for them.

What little I was able to discover of their condition melted my heart over and over.

Dear Merrianne, you are still the hostage of Texas and are in our prayers. I would like to send
encouragement to you to keep on keeping sweet. It's a tender circumstance you're in, but I know that
Heavenly Father prepared your way with every gift you would need to succeed.

Lots of love.

Dearest Merrianne:

I have had you on my mind for several days. I don't know why, but I've just been thinking about you
so much lately. My family and I pray for you and your family daily. I have thought about how the
state of Texas has damaged your life in so many ways. CPS and everyone else involved are doing
the work of Satan. All the while trying to claim they are protecting you! What a load of trash! I
know that your family loves you and have always tried to protect you. That's what parents do! You
have a very good family with the very best spiritual values. It is so horrible when corrupt
governments as that in Texas, invade your homes and your lives. Your sweet parents aren't able to
do anything about it because the evil Texas government can say and do as they please! Sounds to me
like they are no different than the evil German Nazi government under Hitlers control. I have thought
about your emotional pain Merrianne. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be a prisoner of
the American legal system. This is America for goodness sakes! What you have been put through
NEVER should have happened. It makes me angry just thinking about it. Sometimes when I am
reading from the Book of Mormon, thoughts of you come to my mind. You have had far too much
sadness in your young life Merrianne. And the evil Texas government has caused every bit of it! As
you have learned, the only true and righteouss government is the Lords government. All others are
corrupt and evil. I know that Heavenly Father will punish CPS and all of those involved soon
enough. I feel so sorry for you and your family. It is so sad and heart wrenching. If there is anything
at all that I, or my family can do for you and your family, please let us know. I believe that Bill M.
has my email address. I don't know for sure, but are you living with your Auntie? Do you have any
idea when you will be allowed to return home? We will continue to pray for you and your family.

Today marks the first year since your intense testing at the hands of a supposedly democratic
government began. This was never completely your, your family's or your community's trial alone,
for as I have seen, it has brought out the gold in some people and the dross in others even at great
distances from you. Even total strangers have asked about you and others who were taken that
anxious prayerful day one year ago.

Our prayers continue to be for your deliverance to your family. Our God will see you through. He
is ever aware of your needs and earnest desires to reutrn home. If words could hold the brightest and
most encouraging thoughts in sweet distillate condition, how I would love to find them to send to
you. (English is so limited!!) Keep Sweet. There's a lifetime of sermon for me in two words. Smile,
smile, and smile again. I take comfort in the knowledge that this too must pass. With a true united
faith it could be sooner rather than later.

Shine on, bright and clear!

Dear Merrianne:
I pray you are holding on. I pray that the Holy Spirit is with you. I pray for your peace and comfort
during this horrible separation from your family and those who love you. I can't imagine how the
state of Texas can justify what they are doing to you and your family. Supposedly we live in a
country that gives us the freedom to practice our religion without interference from the government.
As I have told you before, I am LDS. However, I believe in polygamy with all of my heart and have
always wanted sister wives. I also wish that our faith would allow us to live again by this sacred
principle. The principle of plural marriage is sacred and holy, ordained by our Father in Heaven. He
wants us to live by this law. You are very fortunate to have been born into your faith. I can only pray
for our church leaders to agree to live by this sacred principle again. I think that the only way this
would ever happen is if the evil government that we live under would make it legal. Otherwise I
don’t think our church will ever allow it again. I have deep respect for your prophet Warren Jeffs.
He stood up to what he believed in, just as the prophet Joseph Smith did. I respect all of your past
prophets for not allowing the state to bully them into abandoning this sacred principle. You are
blessed to be FLDS. I love the Doctrine and Covenants. It is so pure and full of truth. In section 127,
Joseph Smith glories in persecution and tribulation. Word for word in the first few versus it just
reminds me of your prophet Warren Jeffs. If you replace the name of Joseph Smith and read it as if
it was written about your prophet, it makes sense and is sad that your prophet is still in the hands of
his oppressors. But it says in verse 3: Let all the saints rejoice, therefore, and be exceedingly glad;
and he will mete out a just recompense of reward upon the heads of all their oppressors. I pray for
your prophet to be freed from his captors and that you all will have your prophet living in your midst
again. And that your church is free to practice your religion as the Lord desires. It is so sad to see
such sweet and gentle souls such as all of you in the FLDS church being persecuted and falsely
accused of wrongdoings. In D & C 121, verse 16 tells us that “Cursed are all those that shall lift up
the heel against mine anointed, saith the Lord, but have done that which was meet in mine eyes. And
which I commanded them.” Verse 17: “But those who cry transgression do it because they are the
servants of sin, and are the children of disobedience themselves.” Verse 18: “And those who swear
falsely against my servants, that they bring them into bondage and death-” Verse 22: “It had been
better for them that a millstone had been hanged about their necks, and they drowned in the depth
of the sea.” Verse 23: “Wo unto all those that discomfort my people, and drive, and murder, and
testify against them, saith the Lord of Hosts: a generation of vipers shall not escape the damnation

of hell.” Verse 24: “Behold, mine eyes see and know all their works, and I have in reserve a swift
judgment in the season thereof, for them all.”
I think about you often and wonder how you are holding up under such circumstances and having
this last so long. Heavenly Father loves you so much Merrianne. He has great things in store for you.
I would imagine that you are going to be blessed with many wonderful little children to love and
cherish and raise up unto the Lord. I have 8 children and each one is so special to me. Each one is
so unique. I am blessed to have them. We grow so much during our trials. You will become stronger
because of this. Don’t allow these evil doers that hold you prisoner to break your sweet spirit. You
will be free someday Merrianne. They can do so many things to you, but they can’t steal your faith
and love for God. We continue to pray for you and your prophets release. I don’t know how long
your prophet must remain there, but have faith that the Lord will find a way to free him. He loves
your prophet dearly just as he loves you too. I pray that Heavenly Father will continue to bless you
with peace and comfort. Keep Sweet Merrianne. Heavenly Father listens to each of your prayers. I
send you my love and continuous prayers.

Dispite every effort to the contrary, Merrianne was fully aware of the outpouring of love and support she was getting from the outside world.

I spoke to her at Naomi's shortly after her arrival, and she was well, happy, and had several friends there with her.

Merrianne returned to the Ranch, and shortly thereafter her Mother passed away.

Today, she lives on the Ranch with her family, and is well and happy. CPS and CASA are out of her life for good.
